Eggcellent Market Day at Parktown Girls is a great success

PARKVIEW – Market Day at Parktown Girls raises funds to renovate the school library.

The second annual Small Stalls Eggcellent Market at Parktown High School for Girls was a great success, attracting 60 stall holders and hundreds of community members to the event.

Deputy headmistress Gail Davidson said the purpose of the event was to raise funds to renovate and fix up the school library which was in desperate need of repair.

“We have made some strong improvements already, which were funded by the school and will be paid off by the Parents Association,” said Davidson.

“A mom had suggested the idea two years ago and we thought we’d try it out.”

The event showcased stalls selling jewellery, leather products, fabrics, healthy food, crafts, clothing and more.

While some stalls were run by Parktown Girls, the majority of stallholders came from outside of the school learner population.

Davidson said the event raised over R23 000 and was a great success in comparison to the inaugural event last year.
