Learners from King David Linksfield Primary School mesmerised guests when they performed some musical renditions at the annual Passover Freedom Seder celebration which marks the emancipation of Israelites from Egyptian bondage.
The Seder celebration, organised by the South African Jewish Board of Deputies at the Villa Arcadia in Parktown which was a Jewish refugee camp before the current developments, coincided with South Africa’s 25th anniversary of democracy from years of apartheid rule that discriminated against the African majority.
The children, from various grades at the school, were accompanied by their deputy principal Darryl Frankel who described their invitation to perform at the Passover Freedom Seder event as an honour, said they were delighted to have been part of the celebrations.
Among the guests that were swept off their feet by renditions from the learners was IFP president Dr Mangosuthu Buthelezi, ANC MK veteran and former Home Affairs director general Mavuso Msimang and former Constitutional Court Judge Justice Albie Sachs.
