Man killed following a shooting in Berea

BEREA – One man was killed and two others injured yesterday afternoon (10 April) in a shooting incident on Fifth Street in Berea, Johannesburg

A man was found lying on the pavement when paramedics of ER24 and from the University of Johannesburg arrived at the scene shortly after a shooting incident.

“The man was treated for his injuries and provided with pain-relief medication before he was transported to a nearby provincial hospital for further care,” said ER24 in a released statement.

Arrive Alive said at about the same time, paramedics of ER24 were dropping another patient off at another hospital in Hillbrow when a private vehicle rushed in with two gunshot victims from the same incident.

“ER24 paramedics and hospital staff quickly assessed the patients and found that one man, believed to be in his 30s, had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead,” said an ER24 statement.

“The second man was assessed and found to have sustained a gunshot wound to the arm. The man was treated and handed over to the hospital staff for further treatment.”
