Mootee Bar to showcase global bartending superstars during 2019 #MooteeSpaza series

JOBURG – Mootee Bar in Melville opened their series of #Mooteespaza events with a bang.

On Thursday, 28 March, Mootee Bar in Melville opened their series of #Mooteespaza events with a bang. The night featured bartenders Nico de Soto from Paris and Moe Aljaff from Barcelona who wowed the attending crowd with their skills, knowledge, flaring talent and vibrant personalities.

In partnership with Pernod Ricard’s portfolio of brands, the bar aims to bring out a host of guest talent to showcase a range of cocktails from around the world using fresh and delicious local produce.

Aljaff, who owns a bar in Barcelona, is a master of the trade and an entrepreneur. He arrived in Spain with 2 000 Euros and opened his bar, Two Schmucks, without any sponsorship or brand support and is one of the city’s most beloved dive bars. He said he prides himself on making drinks that are packed with flavour and believes that ‘taste is King’. His signature cocktail, The Bangkok, inspired from his travels in Thailand, featured Jameson whiskey, coconut and green chilli.

Crowd favourites of the night were ‘La Myrtille’ made with brandy, lavender and fresh blueberries and ‘Hato’, a Japanese style drink using Altos tequila, a splash of grapefruit sprinkled with Bamboo salt, both signature creations from De Soto who owns Kaido Bar in Miami, Mace Bar New York and Danico in Paris.

The next event will feature cocktails made with Absolut vodka and Jameson whiskey so head over to Mootee Bar to find out what’s cooking and to save the date for the next #mooteespaza.
