Residents discuss how they are preparing for the next bout of load-shedding

MELROSE NORTH – The Rosebank Killarney Gazette asked community members at Melrose Arch how they prepare for load-shedding.

As South Africans take a breather from load-shedding, Rosebank Killarney Gazette asked residents how they are preparing for the next bout of load-shedding. This is what they had to say…

RACHEL WINTERBACH: I plug in everything before load-shedding happens so that it’s all fully charged. I am also saving to buy an inverter to prepare. I have a four-year-old child and cannot be without power.

NIKHIL SIRBADHOO: I always sleep when there’s load-shedding. I am trusting that my parents will have things sorted for when the lights go out. I download Netflix to ensure I’m not bored.
EILEEN LEKAY: I plan to get a generator and LED lights to save money on the generator. Candles just don’t work well enough. I also want a gas stove.

MANDLA MHLUNGU: What can you do? It’s difficult to afford a generator as it is costly. Buying candles is all that I can do to prepare.
