Young archer has raised over R14 000 to uplift Zoo Lake so far

PARKVIEW – Help Olufemi raise R20 000 to clean up Zoo Lake.

Young archer Olufemi Oyeka is on his way to reaching his R20 000 target to uplift Zoo Lake after already collecting R14 250 since January this year.

The Grade 7 learner at The Ridge School invites community members to sponsor his archery achievements, with the proceeds being put towards upliftment projects at Zoo Lake.

In a previous Rosebank Killarney Gazette article, Target set on Zoo Lake [Week ending 8 March], Olufemi outlined his plans to see a litter drive and erosion project started at the park, which he visits frequently to practise his archery.

He achieved a bronze medal with a score of 238 at the Gauteng Provincial IFAA Championships and now has his sights set on achieving national colours for the sport. He needs to achieve three scores of 230 and above to achieve his goal.

“The more people help in the project, the more things we can fix [at Zoo Lake] like erosion, cleaning the duck island and more security,” said Olufemi.

He looks forward to achieving his goals and raising more funds for the park at the upcoming North Gauteng Indoor Championship and South African National Championship.

Chair of the Zoo Lake Users Group is extremely proud of Olufemi’s community-centred vision for Zoo Lake.

“Congratulations and well done Femi. What a great achievement. We are so proud of you and feel honoured and privileged that you have selected Zoo Lake to be your chosen beneficiary,” said Haslam.
