From 28–31 March, Tribhangi Dance Theatre in partnership with the Market Theatre will host One Spirit, in celebration of their 30th anniversary.

Jayesperi Moopen, artistic director of Tribhangi Dance Theatre, said the dance festival will feature a seamless synergy of cultures.

“It’s about creating opportunities for dancers across all genres. Dance and related arts is vital in bringing about awareness and understanding of other dance forms and cultures. We have partnered with Market Theatre in an effort to create a sustainable space for dance and related arts in an accessible environment,” she said.

One Spirit will be performed against the backdrop of the centenary of Madiba’s birth and the 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi. Fifteen dance companies and schools have been invited to be a part of this milestone event.

“Tribhangi Dance Theatre’s greatest strength over the past three decades is their ability to bring choreographers and dancers working in different styles and cultures into a dialogue with each other. It is a cultural conversation that they started when they were founded on the East Rand and it remains one that they have confidently taken across the country and internationally. We are proud to be associated with their 30th anniversary celebrations,” said Ismail Mahomed, CEO of the Market Theatre Foundation.
