City Parks to remove more than 40 trees in Craighall Park infected by shot-hole-borer beetles

CRAIGHALL PARK – Residents should not be alarmed if they see trees being cut down in Buckingham and Richmond avenues on 19 March. City Parks is conducting a blitz operation to remove all dead trees infected by shot-hole-borer beetles.

Following an open day discussion on 8 March regarding the impact of the shot-hole-borer beetle, Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JPCZ) will be removing more than 40 infected trees in Craighall Park.

They will begin at the corner of Richmond and Buckingham avenues in Craighall Park at 8.30am on 19 March.

JCPZ will concentrate on the removal of dead trees only in an attempt to curb the spread of the beetle.

The Rosebank Killarney Gazette will attend the media briefing by MMC Nonhlanhla Sifumba during the proceedings and provide updates in due course.
