Norwood Orchards Residents’ Association to host AGM

NORWOOD – Only fully paid-up members will be able to participate in the elections of a new committee to lead the association.

Brett McDougall, chairman of Norwood Orchards Residents’ Association (Nora) will table his annual report when they hold their annual general meeting on 19 March at 6pm and all are invited.

The AGM will be held at Lifeline offices on Henrietta Road in Norwood, and McDougall invites residents in the suburbs of Norwood, Orchards, The Gardens and Cheltondale to attend.

A new executive committee is expected to be elected and the outgoing one will provide feedback on various projects and activities since taking office.

Among others, said the chairman, is the City of Johannesburg interventions in service disputes within their neighbourhood, the ever-awaited Paterson Park project and overall the work of the association over the past year.

McDougall said only fully paid-up members will be allowed to vote for the new committee, however, residents who are interested to attend are welcome. “Residents have the ability to change their neighbourhood for the better and Nora has proved its success in creating a better neighbourhood and it’s a great organisation to participate in.

“The meeting is an opportunity for community members to drive our agenda for the coming year. The chairman’s report provides full details on how Nora has contributed to our neighbourhood over the year.”

Eligible members are expected to vote for a new executive committee that will continue building on the successes of the outgoing members or set a new agenda for the year ahead.

Chairman’s and treasurer’s positions are the two mandatory ones that will be focused on and McDougall said other positions will be created in response to the agenda that will be driven in the coming year.
