Williams confirms that helicopter in Craighall Park on 10 March was legal

CRAIGHALL PARK – Ward 90 councillor confirms that the helicopter was legal, according to the Civil Aviation Authority.

It has been confirmed that the helicopter which delivered structural steel in Craighall Park on 10 March was legitimate.

This follows in the wake of much commotion and questions by residents in the area. The helicopter delivered structural steel in the early hours of the morning on 10 March to a block of flats at the corner of Jan Smuts Avenue and Westminster Road in Craighall Park.

Ward 90 councillor Martin Williams confirmed that the helicopter activity was legitimate according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Senior flight operations inspector at CAA Denvon Daniels said, “The operator submitted a request for the lift on Sunday. This application was approved by this office as the operator submitted the appropriate risk assessment for the lift in Craighall Park.”

Daniels also confirmed that permissions from the landowner, the City of Johannesburg and the CAA were granted as regulated by the aviation regulation.

Williams requested that in future he is notified directly in this regard so that he can inform residents before the helicopter arrives.
