YEOVILLE– The Yeoville police are urging the woman who was a victim of a crime which was caught on camera to come forward.

Yeoville police have confirmed the location of a video of an adult female who was robbed by a male suspect on 7 March.

This comes after a video of the robbery was circulating on social media platforms. It has now been established to have taken place on the corner of Raleigh and Fortesque streets, Yeoville.

According to the corporate communication officer for Yeoville Police Station Captain Sifiso Mabizela, they were unsure as to when the incident happened as no case has been opened to date.

“We urge the victim of a crime to come and report the official case so that it can be investigated as there are people who have identified the suspect and police are ready to put him behind bars.”

He stated that reporting a case not only helps the police in arresting the suspects but also for the police to do crime prevention and keep residents safe from places where there is a likelihood that offences are being committed as these places can then be monitored.

“We also put up a plea with the community that while it is not a problem taking videos or pictures to actively participate either by shouting for help or apprehending the suspect without placing themselves at risk or just by alerting police.”
