SoCreative hub Summit to connect creative and social economies

JOBURG – SoCreative hub Summit sets out to drive the development of versatile and resilient hubs in Southern Africa.

Arterial Network, one of the largest intercultural networks in Africa, has spearheaded the SoCreative hub Summit taking place from Thursday 14 March – Saturday 16 March at the Constitutional Hill.

A first of its kind, gathering social and creative entrepreneurs working in and with hubs in Southern Africa, the summit is brought in partnership with the British Council, DICE (Developing Inclusive and Creative Economies) and Hivos, and is aimed at connecting two seemingly different worlds – creative and social economies and drive the development of versatile and resilient hubs in Southern Africa.

The goal is essentially to bring together innovators, visionaries, start-ups, SMMEs, hub managers and hub users together to discuss the potential opportunities for entrepreneurial partnerships and growth between the two economies.

“For the first time in South African history, we are proud and honoured to host a summit that will impact various entrepreneurs within the social and creative sphere. Not only is our aim to build new networks that can be used to leverage opportunities for hubs and their users but also to provide a platform for hub managers to meet and share their insights about the creative and social economies,”  said Farai Ncube, arts and partnerships manager at the British Council.

Keynote speakers who are set to ignite, stimulate and accelerate the summit by conveying their knowledge on the overarching topics include Melissa Wong (Impact manager for the Cultural Impact Development Fund; Likhumbi Kapihya (Social Enterprise Academy Zambia manager); Lorraine Bgoya (Zimbabwean-born cultural producer and community manager); Mashudu Madau (youth entrepreneurship evangelist and start-up ecosystem specialist) and DJ Kenzhero (entrepreneur, brand consultant and DJ).

The SoCreative hub Summit will provide a space for energising, inspiring, reflecting and celebrating, as well as to offer a platform to exchange knowledge and best practice, promote new strategies that enable and support Southern African hubs and the chance to build context that is relevant and practical.

Tickets to attend the three-day summit are available on Quicket.co.za.
