Alert: Power back on after power outages affects many parts of Joburg

JOHANNESBURG – Numerous reports on Twitter show that there is no power in many parts of Johannesburg. Eskom is aware of the outage, technicians are on site.


Update: 8 March, 3:30pm

Eskom has confirmed that power has been restored in Sandton, Midrand and Rivionia,  power was out in numerous parts of Joburg North.

Initial report, 8 March, 2:30pm:

Residents across Johannesburg have posted on Twitter to alert City Power that they have no power. 

City Power has posted that the power outages are due to the Mulbarton feeder which tripped. This has led to a total loss of power supply at the Mondeor substation.

Eskom spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe said they are aware of the massive power outage affecting parts of Johannesburg and Eskom technicians are on site:
