Mob justice in Hillbrow after a suspected robbery

HILLBROW – The suspect of an alleged robbery is still in hospital after the community took justice in their own hands.

Community members in Hillbrow took justice into their own hands after a man alleged that a suspect had robbed him on the corner of Quartz and Kaptein streets in the early hours of 3 March.

The spokesperson for the Hillbrow Police Station, Mdudzi Zondo said, “The suspect was alleged to have robbed a man around 4am on 3 March. He [suspect] tried to hide in a place he is not living in to avoid being assaulted but the community found him and assaulted him, it was an act of mob justice.”

The police arrived after the incident. The victim had not come forward, Zondo added,  and they needed more information to continue with the investigation.

The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital.
