Johannesburg Flying Squad police bust suspects for various offences

JOHANNESBURG – All the suspects are expected to appear in different courts facing different charges.


The Johannesburg Flying Squad reported on their recent successes.

According to the spokesperson for the Johannesburg Flying Squad, Sergeant Desmond Subramoney, it had been a successful weekend for their officers.

From 18 January to 21 January, the unit’s officers arrested 12 suspects for different crimes.

Subramoney said the suspects were arrested in different areas of Johannesburg during their routine patrols and operations.

“During that time, we managed to recover four stolen vehicles, one hijacked vehicle and one unlicensed 9mm firearm,” he said.

Subramoney said the recovered stolen vehicles were a Toyota Hilux, Ford Lazer, VW Polo and Mercedes Benz, and the hijacked vehicle was a Toyota Quantum.

“During routine patrols officers arrested one suspect for theft and another one for malicious damage to property. We also arrested a suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and another suspect was held for possession of a hijacked vehicle.”

Police also nabbed two more suspects for possession of a stolen motor vehicle and six others for possession of drugs.

All the suspects are between 24 and 37 years old and are expected to appear in various courts.
