Sjava’s BET award finally lands in South Africa

JOBURG – Sjava finally gets his hand on BET Awards trophy.

Last year, 24 June, Sjava received the Viewer’s Choice: Best International Act Award at the 2018 BET Awards. The Grammy-nominated artist finally got his hands on the trophy as it touched South African soil.

The official handover took place at Viacom’s offices on 25 February where the muso was handed the award by Monde Twala, BET’s vice president, Youth and Music, Viacom International Media Networks Africa alongside Alex Okosi, executive vice president and managing director at the Viacom International Media Networks Africa.

“I really thought that we were not going to make it because of the data crisis that we had in the country, I thought my people were not going to be able to vote for me, but they did so thank you very much,” Sjava said.

Sjava also had an opportunity to perform at this year’s Oscars alongside SZA but unfortunately, the Black Panther performance was cancelled. The revered musician continues to fly the South African flag up high with the support of the nation.
