Kew’s Faith Montessori Pre-Primary School nurtures and focuses on child development

KEW – The new school also focuses on the social growth of young children and the development of leadership skills.

The core mission of soon-to-be-opened, Faith Montessori Pre-Primary School in Kew is to plant a seed of greatness to young lives.

In a recent sit-down interview with North Eastern Tribune, the school’s marketing manager Lydia Nekhunguni explained that the school’s program provides an environment that nurtures the cognitive, emotional, physical and social growth of young children and focuses on the development of leadership skills. “We offer opportunities for children to explore through developmentally appropriate play while using Montessori standards. We cater for children from four months old to six years of age.”

Nekhunguni explained that they believed leadership instils confidence and helps children solve problems creatively, work in teams and collaboratively with others which will ultimately produce responsible citizens with the ability to positively influence their environments in society. “We believe it is essential for children to interact with meaningful curriculum through intentional learning experiences within our early childhood environment.

“We also believe in reciprocal relationships with our children, their families, our schools, and our local communities. These relationships nurture a team building approach resulting in an optimal learning environment for children to develop and grow.”

The founder of the school, Zanele Mvelase said, “The reason why I decided to have a Montessori school is because of their standards as I am very passionate about education and the development of a child.”

She saw the impact of a Montessori foundation in the development of her own children. “My children are very independent and know how to solve or approach certain things in their lives. This I can say is due to the foundation that was laid by the Montessori fundamentals.”

Mvelase added that young minds will be given the opportunity to explore through developmentally appropriate play at the school while using Montessori standards as the focal point for their curriculum foundation. “We have teachers and assistants who are highly qualified professionals with a very rich experience. This will ensure your child receives the very best learning environment to be successful in school and life.”

Nekhunguni concluded with a quote they live by from the founder of Montessori, Maria Montessori, “How much fuller and richer would life be if we saw the child through his greatness and his beauty instead of focusing on his little mistakes.”
