62-year-old woman dies at Netcare Linksfield Hospital after alleged overdose

ORANGE GROVE– The police are investigating the death of an elderly woman who they suspect overdosed on her medication.


A 62-year-old woman has passed away after being treated for a suspected overdose at Netcare Linksfield Hospital, Orange Grove.

According to the spokesperson for the Norwood Police Station, Captain Elliot Tshivhase, they suspect that elderly woman took too many pills and overdosed. “She was found where she used to live at Randtjis Estate an old age home and was admitted at the hospital on 13 February.”

Tshivhase explained that doctors tried their level best to pump out the medication out of her system, however, the retiree died on 18 February.

“A case of inquest has been opened at the police station,” Tshivase concluded.
