Woman shot dead

BRAMLEY – The unknown gunman appeared from nowhere and shot the woman without saying a word.

An unidentified man is sought by Bramley police after he shot and killed a pregnant woman for no apparent reason.

The incident occurred on Kelvin Road in Bramley on 11 February while the woman was walking along the road with a male friend.

According to Bramley police spokesperson, Captain Molefe Mogodi, the details surrounding the murder remain sketchy.

Mogodi said the man who was walking with the deceased woman told the police that the suspect appeared from nowhere and started shooting at the woman.

“The police were informed by the witness that he was walking along the road with the deceased when a man who is unknown [to them] approached them,” added Mogodi.

“The witness further informed the police that the man who was armed with a gun, shot at the deceased without saying a word. The suspect then ran away while the deceased was left lying on the ground bleeding.”

The woman was certified dead on the scene, said Mogodi.

The motive for the killing is still unknown and the police are investigating a murder case.

It is alleged that the woman was pregnant but Mogodi could not confirm or deny the allegations. “We have no knowledge of that.”

By the time of publishing the story, the police had yet to inform the woman’s next of kin.

Anyone with information that can help lead to the whereabouts of the suspect is requested to contact the Bramley police.
