Rosebank Killarney Gazette #CaxtonCares and Mzansi Trolls grants a young girl’s wish

KILLARNEY – There is nothing much more special than having the pleasure of granting a young girl's wish.

A specially designated Happiness Squad brought Trolls magic to a young girls’ life with the help of the Rosebank Killarney Gazette.

In November last year at Killarney Mall, together with Rachel Kolisi, Brent Lindeque, Sureshnie Rider and Moshe Ndiki, the Trolls Happiness Squad invited visitors to submit their deepest wishes to the value of R10 000.

Multiple wishes were fulfilled on behalf of the squad but a special opportunity was given to the Gazette – the chance to grant someone’s wish.

With over a whopping 500 wishes received during the campaign, it was a tough task for the Gazette’s team to choose a wish. Under the ethos of Caxton Cares, it was an honour to be able to realise a young community member’s biggest wish.

Requests ranged from birthday parties to a dream to be a firefighter for one day.

The time came to select a winner, after hours of debate and discussion with a few tears shed, five-year-old Zizipho Ndlebe was chosen to shower her with Trolls happiness. Zizipho’s wish was to raise funds in order to receive a second cochlear implant. This, unfortunately, is an incredibly costly procedure but the Gazette and the Squad came up with another way to help.

It was decided that R10 000 would be put towards Zizipho’s school fees at St Vincent School for the Deaf in order to alleviate some financial pressure. This way, the funds that would have ordinarily be used for schools fees could ultimately go towards the cochlear fund.

Happiness is contagious and passing it on is the perfect gift. The Trolls Happiness Squad created colour and joy, one community at a time. In today’s world, which is largely driven by negativity and fear, Trolls Mzansi and the Gazette showed that each of us can bring about positive change through our actions, by doing the right thing, and helping others, even when faced with formidable challenges.
