Ayanda Thabethe throws her weight behind #KrushGoodness
JOBURG – Ayanda Thabethe visits schools in KZN as part of #KrushGoodness.
If you’ve been following social media you would have seen that various celebrities have been very busy over the past few weeks visiting schools across SA distributing school shoes. This is part of the #KrushGoodness project which will see to it that 20 000 school children in need across SA receive a brand-new pair of school shoes for the school year ahead.
So far, over 15 000 pairs of school shoes have been distributed with the remaining 5 000 to be distributed over the next two weeks.
Ayanda Thabethe is one of the celebs who has thrown her weight behind this special project:
What drew you to participate in the #KrushGoodness project?
I believe that sharing goodness in whatever way we can, in acts that are big and small, should be a part of our daily lives. I couldn’t wait to share the goodness with the beautiful children in the different schools and at the same time challenging others to do the same.
What were you most looking forward to about visiting a school?
The smiles on their faces and just knowing that I was part of an act of kindness that will go a long way for them in their school year was something very special for me.
What, for you, is the biggest importance of helping our communities and children in particular?
In the words of Nelson Mandela ‘Our children are the rock on which our future will be built, our greatest asset as a nation. They will be the leaders of our country, the creators of our national wealth, those who care for and protect our people’. It’s important therefore that I am part of the narrative that prepares the next generation for their role in continuing to build our beautiful country.
Do you remember any celebrities coming to your school when you were a child? What memory sticks out the most for you and why?
Meeting alumni from my high school (even though they were not celebrities) who had gone out into the world and made a success of themselves in different career fields made a huge impact on me. Knowing that they came from the same rural high school that I had gone to, undergone the same process and made a huge success of themselves made me believe that I too will share a success story someday.
What is the one piece of advice you have for young fans of yours?
Trust the process and timing of your life. Keep your head down and focus on the task at hand which is your education that is the key that will open many doors for you. You have what it takes. Believe in yourself.
What does the rest of 2019 hold for you?
2019 I’m emptying every ounce of talent I have in me. Availing myself to different opportunities and partnering with exciting brands! The future looks bright!
