Bramley police conduct successful crime operations over the weekend of 8 to 10 February

BRAMLEY– Bramley police strive to rid the area from crime even over the weekend.

With reducing crime in the area as their first priority, the officers at Bramley Police Station had their hands full over the weekend of 8 to 10 February.

According to the head of communications at the station, Captain Molefe Mogodi, offenders included those who were arrested for driving motor vehicles while under the influence of alcohol. “We strongly urge the community to refrain from consuming alcohol while knowing that they will be driving.”

Mogodi explained that on Friday, 8 February, their members arrested a 35-year-old man for rape. “It is alleged that the suspect, who is an ex-boyfriend of the victim, came to her place in Marlboro and the suspect allegedly drew out a screwdriver and pepper spray gun and threatened her. He finally overpowered the victim and raped her.

“The victim reported the matter to the police who later arrested the suspect. He is yet to appear in court.”

Mogodi added that a man was arrested for being in possession of stolen property. He explained that the Sector Commander and his crew were patrolling Bramley Sector 2 along Scott and Forest roads when they stopped a man who was pushing a wheelie- bin. “They stopped and checked what he was carrying and questioned him about where he got it but he could not give a satisfactory answer.

“The bin had a house number written on it and the police then visited the address which falls under the Norwood Policing area. The owner confirmed that the bin belonged to her and it might have been taken after Pikitup emptied them. She was not even aware that her bin was stolen. The suspect was arrested and will appear in court soon.”
