Two suspects wanted by police for double murder in

TROYVILLE – The deceased were allegedly tortured for about five hours until they succumbed to their injuries.

Jeppe police have launched a manhunt after officers dug up two men’s bodies which were buried in a shallow grave under a bed in a shack on Wilhelmina Street in Troyville on 29 January.

According to the police, a woman apparently not connected to the crime, came to the police station and told them that there were two men who had been murdered and buried inside a shack.

The spokesperson for Jeppe Police Station, Captain Richard Munyayi, said the police then went to the residence to investigate the claim.

Police discovered two dead bodies inside a shack on Wilhelmina Street in Troyeville and the two wanted suspects were finally arrested while trying to flee justice.

When the police went inside the shack, Munyayi said they found the place neatly packed and clean. “But a woman and other people residing in the yard insisted that there were bodies under the bed,” said Munyayi.

“The officers then called for backup and a K9 unit was also brought in with their sniffer dogs. A bed was removed and the police started to dig and two bodies were eventually discovered.”

It was alleged that the deceased were brought into the shack by two wanted suspects in the early hours of the morning about 5am on 29 January and started to assault and torture them.

Munyayi said according to the information gathered, the deceased were accused of stealing other people’s property including a firearm.

The torture apparently went on until about 10am when the suspects realised the men were dead.

“The suspects then dug a hole and buried the bodies with the help of another woman who was in the shack when the incident happened, and they then cleaned the shack and put everything in place and left but the woman stayed behind.

“The police then questioned the woman… she later admitted that she was inside the shack when the murder took place.”

The woman was arrested and the two suspects are still at large. Munyayi is appealing to anyone who might have information to come forward.

The bodies of the two deceased aged between 30 and 40 years were taken to a government mortuary.
