Doornfontein drug dealer is arrested in a sting operation

DOORNFONTEIN – The suspect was arrested after the community alerted the police about suspicious activities at the house.

DOORNFONTEIN- A 25-year-old man is expected to appear in court soon facing charges of drug dealing after he was arrested by the Johannesburg police on 12 January.

The incident took place in Doornfontein at the intersection of Davies and President streets, according to the police.

It is understood that the police received information from the community about illegal activities at the house.

The spokesperson for the Johannesburg Flying Squad, Sergeant Desmond Subramoney, said his colleagues followed up on the tip-off. They conducted a sting operation and raided the house and found the drugs.

“Large quantities of drugs suspected to be nyaope were found and confiscated by the police,” he said.

“The suspect was then immediately arrested and charged for dealing as well as for possession of illegal drugs. He was taken to Jeppe Police Station.”

The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to appear soon in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court.

Subramoney praised fellow officers who arrested the suspect after careful planning.

“Police members are always working hard and together to provide a 24-hour emergency service, following information to effect an arrest and react on preventing crime.”

He said the police would continue working hard to trace drug manufacturing labs and drug lords responsible for supplying drugs in the areas.
