City Buzz Exclusive: Lasizwe spills the beans on his new reality show

JOBURG – Lasizwe gives us an exclusive sneak peek into his life as his reality show premieres.

Today, 21 January, South Africa will get a chance to catch a glimpse of the real life of SA’s Internet sensation, Lasizwe Dambuza, as his reality show, Lasizwe: Fake It Till You Make It premieres on MTV at 9.30pm.

“It’s based on the lifestyle we live, sometimes people don’t know that there are people that help us get that lifestyle and it’s basically me showing the ‘realest’ thing that has ever happened on reality TV,” Lasizwe said.

The six-episode reality show is the first local reality television show to be hosted by MTV and will delve into Lasizwe’s life in the spotlight as he rubs shoulders with SA’s top celebrities at some of the best parties in Joburg, while he also shares challenging moments as he seeks his family’s acceptance and understanding of his sexuality.

“It feels really good because I had to earn my stripes and I’ve always wanted a reality show. I’ve always dreamt to see myself as one of the Kardashians but unfortunately, I didn’t have the credentials and credibility to do that. So I had to build to get to where I’m at today,” Lasizwe said.

Not only does the show follow the young star as he navigates the most exclusive social events, but it also gives his fans a chance to see the difference between his online and offline personas. The sensation said Lasizwe online is crazy and Thulasizwe in real life is the complete opposite

“Being Lasizwe is waking up in the morning going on set, doing appearances, travelling and always making sure that my happiness is transferred onto some else’s happiness and making people happy,” he said.

In the debut episode, the 20-year-old reveals a different side to what Mzansi has come to know through his social media posts. He juggles his time between making business decisions, preparing for some of the country’s fancy social events, addressing one of the controversies surrounding him and striving to bring his family together. There will be drama, controversy, and tears, which will expose Lasizwe’s sensitive side – something rarely seen in his social media life.

“You’re going to see a lot, you’re going to see some elements where I am thrown into modes where I have to think for myself and a decision has to be made right on the spot,”  he said.
