We’re slowly getting closer to the end of the month. We may have seen some wins, losses and a lot of drama in the past week. However, it’s time for us to cool down, relax and have a good time at these events in the City.

18 January: The Big Night In – 10 Things I Hate About You

‘The Big Night In’ is The Bioscope’s new night of cheesy movies and all-you-can-eat pizza! That’s right, from the moment the film starts, until the credits. 19 January: The Rand Club & Historic Financial District Tour

The Rand Club was founded a year after Johannesburg sprang to life, and has occupied its present building, a fine Edwardian edifice in the heart of the old financial district, since 1904. Join in on an exploration the history, personalities and architecture of this marvellous Johannesburg institution and its neighbourhood. And, as an added bonus, James Findlay will be leading the group through his Collectable Books and Antique Maps store, recently relocated from his Saxonwold home to the basement of the Rand Club. 19 January: A Taste of Lighthouse Festival

After hosting two successful events in Cape Town, presenting an immersive and enriching experience to an eager and knowledgeable audience, Lighthouse Festival Europe is coming to Johannesburg. The event will play host to Berlin headliner ATEQ as well as a collaborative showcase from the LHF Squad while TOYTOY residents Zolabuddé will represent South Africa on the line up. 20 January: Art Corner Sundays

Art Corner Sundays is a platform to share your art. The project is a series of performances programmed once a month at the Space.com. These performances can be of any art form such as drama, dance, film, poetry and solo or group performances of original or re-imagined versions of published works. Interested artists only need to sign-up and will be guaranteed an opportunity to showcase their work on 20 January 2019 Entrance is free!

20 January: Jittery Citizens: It’s now or never

Hosted Pop Art Theatre in Maboneng, Jittery Citizens brings improvisational comedy to South African stages. The fearless troupe have performed hilarious unscripted comedy to sold-out audiences across the country.  Jittery Citizens are guaranteed to invoke spontaneous laughter from even the most serious audiences.
