Bishop of Johannesburg leads St John’s mass

HOUGHTON – St John's begins the year with a traditional community mass.

Houghton-based school St John’s College began the year with a traditional community mass on the Burger Field, bringing together the entire campus.

The youngest Johannians from The Bridge Nursery School and Pre-Preparatory joined the learners from the college, Sixth Form and St John’s College Academy, staff and parents on the day.

The annual event was set against the dramatic and beautiful northern façade of the school.

The Bishop of Johannesburg and visitor Right Reverend Dr Steve Moreo was the celebrant, bringing exuberance and enthusiasm to the event.

A special blessing was given to the final year learners including the Upper V (matric), Upper VI (A level) and matric academy learners. Council members and the prefect body for 2019 were also commissioned.

Sidumo Nyamezele led the choir while Cameron Upchurch played the piano as the St John’s community and its choir sang magnificently.
