Beware of old hoax message doing the rounds

SANDTON – An old hoax message that has been circulating for several years seems to be doing the rounds again.

An old hoax from a few years ago seems to be doing the rounds on social media again.

The message warns the community about a new method used to rob or hijack a motorist by throwing acid into the victim’s face.

The Sandton Chronicle originally reported on this hoax in 2014 when the same message was doing the rounds.

The message describes that due to new gun laws and stricter rules regarding ammunition, hijackers have turned to pool acid in a syringe or a plastic bag.

It also names an apparent victim of an attack as an employee from Discovery Health, Gavin Osmond.

This message is, in fact, a hoax and has been circulating on all social media platforms for some time now.
