Rosebank police share tips to protect residents this festive season

ROSEBANK – Rosebank police spokesperson Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe shares advice for residents over the December period.

With the festive season upon us, Rosebank Killarney Gazette spoke to the Rosebank Police to discuss crimes to look out for over this period and ways to protect your home while away.

Spokesperson for the Rosebank Police Station Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe said some of the current problematic crimes in Rosebank are theft out of motor vehicles, common robberies and housebreakings.

Mdletshe advised those going away over the festive season to ensure the safety of their homes over this period. “Inform your security company which you are registered with and request regular patrols from the nearest police station in residential areas. Also, test your alarm to ensure it is in working condition before going on vacation.”

For those staying in Rosebank for the festive season, he advised the following: “Expensive jewellery is likely to attract criminals. Check your blind spot when driving and make sure your car is properly locked when going to restaurants and malls.”

Mdletshe concluded, “The Rosebank SAPS management and its members wish every member of the public in their policing precinct a safe and crime-free festive season.”
