Lasizwe bags his own reality show

JOBURG – Mtv Africa launches its first local reality TV show with Lasizwe.

Mzansi’s Internet sensation, Lasizwe Dambuza is finally getting his own reality show, @Lasizwe: Fake It till You Make It, which is set to premiere on 21 January next year on MTV.

The 20-year-old boasts close to 1.2 million fans on his social media pages and is certainly not one to shy away from the camera. His arsenal of flamboyant online characters has entertained thousands, making him a household brand in many homes but many still question if they know the real Lasizwe.

The six-episode reality show is the first local reality television show to be hosted by MTV and will delve into Lasizwe’s life in the spotlight as he rubs shoulders with SA’s top celebrities at some of the best parties in Joburg, while he also shares challenging moments as he seeks his family’s acceptance and understanding of his sexuality.

The storyline is full of contrasts amplified by the locations it is set in, from the township of Soweto where Lasizwe grew up to Sandton where he lives and all the way to his familiy’s KZN township home.

“MTV is all about entertaining the youth and serves as the cultural home of the millennial generation. We are excited to be working with Lasizwe,” said Monde Twala, vice president for youth, music, and BET at Viacom International Media Networks Africa

Lasizwe said he was excited to be working with MTV and VIMN Africa for the second time.

“The first time I worked with the brand was with You Got Got which was the biggest highlight of my whole career because that is when MTV gave brand ‘Lasizwe the Internet sensation’ a shot. I am grateful again to MTV for choosing me, my show and for giving their viewers an insight into my personal life which will see the audience sharing a lot of laughter, tears, and mixed emotions,” Lasizwe said.

His fans will be exposed to his rollercoaster journey in the entertainment industry as he attempts to balance being a modern millennial in a traditional Zulu family while juggling an exciting, but extremely unpredictable love life.
