WARNING: Protest march to take place in Norwood – CAP

NORWOOD – 'The march is scheduled to start at the Norwood Police Station at 10:00 where an approximate crowd of 500 protesters and supporting personnel will march to Grant Avenue corner Dorothy Road.'

A notice of a possible protest march in Norwood has been issued by CAP.

According to it’s Facebook page, CAP is a non-profit, community-based, intelligence-driven crime fighting solution managed by one centralised operation centre, the CAP ICCC.

The post on the CAP Facebook page regarding the protest action reads, “CAP are aware of a protest march involving several citizens, and potentially involving political parties, taking place tomorrow in the Norwood area.

“The march is scheduled to start at the Norwood Police Station at 10am where an approximate crowd of 500 protesters and supporting personnel will march to the Citynet offices based on Grant Avenue corner Dorothy Road.”

It is not yet clear what the strike will be about.

CAP further expanded on the security operations.

“In light of the march, CAP will be deploying an additional five strike-team tactical vehicles into the immediate and surrounding area. It must be noted that CAP will not be able to intervene unless the lives of its officers or the public are directly threatened.”

According to CAP, there would be police and Metro police present along the route.

“Residents and businesses operating in the area are urged to prepare accordingly for the march. Be aware that there is the potential for a protest of this size to escalate and spill over to roads in the surrounding area,” read the post on the CAP Facebook page.

CAP further advised residents to avoid the area during the protest action.
