SAJBD calls on interested volunteers to join the ‘Make Us Count’ election observer team

JOBURG -– The SAJBD is looking for volunteers for the 2019 elections.

Have you got what it takes to be part of an election observer team?

If so, then you’re just the right person who the South African Jewish Board of Deputies (SAJBD) is looking for.

This is a chance for those who are 18 years or older and wish to join the Make Us Count election observer team.

If you meet the criteria, then send your full name as it appears in your ID book, your ID number and your telephone number, email address and the area you would like to observe in, to sajbd@sajbd.org no later than 13 December.

“As part of the SAJBD’s election awareness and mobilisation campaign Make Us Count, we will again be forming our highly successful interfaith and multi-national election observer team to monitor the national and provincial elections in 2019,” said a statement from the SAJBD.

The SAJBD said they were officially accredited by the IEC and their observer teams would be posted to voting stations in cities across the country to ensure that the upcoming elections were both free and fair.

“This is an exciting opportunity to take an active role in South Africa’s democracy and observers volunteer their time on election day to be stationed at polls close to where they live,” continued the statement.

“They will have the opportunity to monitor the elections for anything from a few hours to a full day, and can even assist in vote counting after the polls close if they wish.”
