Leeuwkop prisoner linked to mid-2000 housebreakings

SANDRINGHAM – A Leeuwkop prisoner has been linked and convicted for three housebreakings between 2005 and 2006.

Following a diligent investigation, the Sandringham police have linked three housebreakings to a criminal already serving another sentence in Leeuwkop prison.

Spokesperson for the Sandringham Police Station Captain Mohlaume Mamabolo said the housebreaking incidents in question occurred on Whitney Road in Lyndhurst in July and September 2005 and in February 2006.

The Sandringham police used fingerprint evidence which led them to the 32-year-old Patrick Hlengwa who is currently serving time at Leeuwkop Prison for crimes committed in Honeydew.

Mamabolo said that Hlengwa was sentenced to 15 years for these three incidents at the Johannesburg Regional Court.
