The City of Johannesburg has confirmed that there was no serious damage reported in the north-eastern suburbs following heavy rains and thunderstorms on Monday (5 November).
According to recent reports, the weather left a number of houses damaged‚ trees uprooted and some roads blocked.

Metro police spokesperson, Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said, no fatalities were reported to authorities but only uprooted trees in the South of Johannesburg.
Minnaar added that there were about three areas where trees were reported to have caused damages citing the Booysens on-ramp to the M1 South which blocked traffic.
He also mentioned one at the intersection of the Rand Show and Nasrec roads in Nasrec and another on Albertina Sisulu Road in Roodepoort.
“There were no fatalities or injuries that I know of. I can confirm that those were the only three trees that were reported to have caused damages and affected traffic,” said Minnaar.
Meanwhile, media reports also indicated that trees were uprooted in some areas and houses in Lenasia‚ Ennerdale‚ Eldorado Park‚ Northcliff and Orange Grove were damaged.
Ward 74 councillor David Fisher confirmed that a tree was uprooted in Orange Grove and fell on a local’s vehicle.
He added that anyone who has been affected by or know of any fallen trees should report it to City Parks by calling 011 375 5555.
Johannesburg MMC for public safety Michael Sun listed some of the areas affected on his Twitter account as a result of the thunderstorms.
City’s Emergency Management Services (EMS) spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi could not be reached for comment and his colleague, Nana Radebe could not respond as she said, “I’m at school…please contact Robert.”
