Fairways primary to celebrate 50th anniversary

ILLOVO – Fairways Primary School invites former learners and residents to take part in their 50th anniversary celebrations.

 

Fairways Primary School will be celebrating its 50th anniversary through a special carnival day on 24 November.

The school held its inaugural meeting for prospective parents at the Wanderers Club on 5 December 1966 and the school opened its door in January 1967 to 130 learners.

The school focuses on providing a holistic education for the children and encouraged children to work for excellence, participate in sport and to be actively involved in cultural activities.

Ronni de Klerk was the producer of many of the stage productions and went on to be appointed as principal in 1976. The first valedictory ceremony was held in 1976 to celebrate the start of a new era at Fairways.

The school is currently being led by Tracy Rae who was appointed in 2006, having moved up through the ranks of the school.

Fairways Primary School is celebrating its 50th anniversary on 24 November this year and is calling on all ex-learners to assist with the fundraising efforts of the school.
