JOBURG – Young rappers showcase their bars in this year's BET Hip-Hop Awards Cypher.
Leaders of SA hip-hop’s new school Shane Eagle, Nasty C and A-Reece have killed all doubts about the direction South African hip-hop is taking. Following their BET Hip-Hop Awards 2018 cypher, the trio came together to form Team Ivyson, a trifecta of bars, lyricism and unmatched bravado.
With so many quotable lines, the young rappers freestyled over this year’s BET I Am Hip-Hop recipient, Lil Wayne’s Banned From TV instrumental. Each rapper equally holds their own in terms of delivery, lyrics and all-around audibility, however, A-Reece, who comes in last, steals the show as he sheds light on his prowess as an independent artist and takes a shot at rappers who repackage old school kwaito vibes into new music.
