WATCH: Kabelo Mabalane’s daughter takes us back to TKZee days
JOBURG – Kabelo Mabalane’s daughter sings TKZee’s Shibobo.
Twenty years ago, TKZee, released their first full album, Halloween, a South African smash album that spawned the hit singles Dlala Mapansula, Mambotjie and We Love This Place. The album went platinum and earned TKZee South African Music Awards for Best Kwaito Album, Best Duo/Group, Best Single and Best Kwaito Single propelling the iconic status in South Africa’s music industry.
The group’s classic hit-single Shibobo is back under the radar, this was after TKzee member, Kabelo Mabalane posted a video of his daughter Zoe singing the 1998 song which saw the group collaborate with former Bafana Bafana striker Benni McCarthy. McCarthy rapped some pretty iconic lyrics which have even been re-used in AKA’s Fela in Versace.
Mabalane said his daughter will be performing the song at her school’s concert.
