TONGHT set to bring back eclectic sounds to Braam

Kenzhero, Kid Fonque and Maria McCloy are set to bring the next edition of TONGHT to Braamfontein.

Kenzhero, Kid Fonque and Maria McCloy are set to bring the seventh edition of popular party series, TONGHT,  to Braamfontein’s stylish new spot, Untitled, for a night of eclectic sounds.

“I’m glad we are back, people always loved the music and the atmosphere at TONGHT,” Kid Fonque said.

Taking place on 2 November, the seventh installation of the party series promises sounds spanning hip-hop, house, R&B, kwaito and Afro-beats curated by curated by acclaimed DJs, radio personalities and party promoters, Kenzhero and Kid Fonque who joined forces with urban culture specialist, publicist, designer and newcomer DJ, Maria McCloy who said Joburg needed a party for people aged 28 and upwards.

“We created this because we saw a gap in the market, partying with people old enough to be your kids isn’t always fun,” McCloy said.

Kenzhero said the concept came about following conversations he had with Kid Fonque when they would cross paths through events they would play at.

“Our styles are complementary, a true testimony of the school of DJing we come from which is about staying true and unique,” Kenzhero said.

Catering for a mature audience, Kid Fonque said the crowd they started with over the years has grown a bit older and needed a fun party that caters to their tastes and energy.

“Although we keep DJing every weekend, the crew who started with us are older and find it difficult to get down where we play as the crowd is younger so they stay away from the current party scene,” he said.
