Randjes pray for South Africa

HIGHLANDS NORTH – Randjes Estate residents prayed for South Africa at their special inter-faith event on 16 October.

The Randjes Estate residents hosted a special inter-faith prayer meeting to pray for South Africa ahead of the 2019 elections.

Organiser of the event Beckie Tobias said the estate had inter-faith prayer programmes in 2015 and 2016 with a great deal of support from residents. “In 2018, despite the removal of former president Jacob Zuma, our nation is making slow progress through a time of deep economic and political economic turbulence”.

On 16 October, the residents gathered, sang hymns and listened to speeches from Tobias and general manager of Randjes Estate, Gail Kruger.

In her speech, Tobias mentioned some of the recent incidents of worry for South Africans including the recent VBS bank scandal and the state capture inquiry. She also emphasised the importance of the inter-faith programme’s call for prayer in times of the worry.

In Kruger’s closing address, she called on the residents to ask themselves how they can bring about change for the society in times of turbulence.

The day ended with Randjes Estate residents singing the national anthem before enjoying a wonderful spread for lunch.
