15-year-old boy stabbed outside school premises in Doornfontein

DOORNFONTEIN – Police have confirmed that the incident did happen and that a suspect has been brought in to the police station by the school's Head of Department.

 

A 15-year-old boy was left critically injured on the afternoon of 17 October when he was stabbed outside his school in Doornfontein.

This according to the emergency service’s spokesperson Russel Meiring in a statement which said the details of the incident still remain ‘sketchy’.

Meiring said ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find the boy lying in the school premises adding that a security member was also found on the scene.

“Paramedics assessed the boy and found that he had sustained numerous stab wounds and was in a critical condition,” he said.

“The boy was treated for his injuries and immediately transported to Charlotte Maxeke Provincial Hospital for urgent care.”

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were alerted.

Jeppe Police Station spokesperson, Captain Richard Munyayi, has confirmed the incident. “The incident was just reported to us this morning [18 October] from the head of the department at the school who also apparently brought the suspect into the police station.”

Munyayi continued, “A case has not yet been opened with us as they are still meeting in the victim empowerment centre and further information will be reported to us as soon as they have decided on a way forward.”

When contacted on 18 October, the Gauteng Department of Education’s spokesperson, Steven Mabona, said they were not familiar with the incident.

“I’m unable to comment on the matter because we have no knowledge of this,” he said.

Mabona requested North Eastern Tribune to send him the information via email and said he will then respond afterwards.
