12 October: The Printing Girls Gallery at The Bioscope

The Printing Girls is an all-female collective of artists working in the medium of printmaking. In their permanent space at The Bioscope, exhibitions of their work are now held and change monthly. Each month, the body of work will be tied together by a different theme. This October, the theme is ‘Twist’.  Each piece will be available as an edition of 3.

13 October: #District

Hosted in Newtown from 13 – 14 October, #District is a global street festival and the culmination of world genre music, art, food, photography and theatre with a strong focus on sustainable events. This urban festival aims to create a festival platform that cultivates synergy between various cultures, backgrounds and demographics in a clean, safe and inclusive environment. The festival is committed to assist in tackling issues such as recycling, safety as well as infrastructure challenges within Newtown’s precinct as well as incorporating all businesses in the event footprint with support offered in programming for the festival and ultimately transforming Newtown into a walking #District for two days, throwing open all doors to the public.

13 October: Drop-in Drawing with Bronwen Findlay

Wits Art Museum offers a free drawing class, inspired by their latest exhibition, every second Saturday of the month. Bronwen Findlay will explore the lithography printmaking technique through the artwork in the exhibition The Art of Lithography: A Collaborative Expression of LL Editions.

14 October: Stadium Dash Joburg

Now a 6,5km challenge, Stadium Dash Joburg is action packed with adventure at every turn. The challenge is brought to you by Jump City with a route that will take you to the dizzying heights of Emirates Airline Park, Johannesburg Stadium, Ellispark Arena and the Ellispark swimming pool. 14 October: The Nutcracker
