Four-day working week a hit with employees

JOBURG – New Zealand-based company finds that four-day working week increases productivity.

Perpetual Guardian, a New Zealand-based company has made its four-day working week permanent after its trial was a hit among employees and boosted productivity.

In a report by the Sydney Morning Herald, the company said productivity had increased by 20 per cent during the trial, and staff were more engaged and enthusiastic.

With more than 240 employees, Perpetual Guardian said it will make the four-day week an option for all its full-time workers from November as founder and managing director, Andrew Barnes found that there was no downside to introducing the four-day week.

The four-day week trial has picked up momentum in other parts of the world, including the British Trade Union Council’s call for a four-day week in the UK.
