#FuelHike: Top five petrol saving tips
JOBURG – Top five tips to save you petrol and money.
Fuel prices will once again break records for all the wrong reasons this coming Wednesday (3 October), Roodepoort Record reports.
In an official statement, the Energy Fund has announced that 93 octane petrol will rise by 99c per litre and 95 octane petrol by R1 per litre. This means that inland motorists will cough up more than R17 per litre for 95 octane petrol.
These prices are the highest in the history of South Africa.
Diesel will also rise by R1,24 per litre and illuminating paraffin by R1,04 per litre wholesale.
Here are City Buzz’ top five tips to ease the impact of the fuel hike:
- Fill up in the morning
You get more value for your money as fuels are known to be denser when the temperature is cooler.
- Avoid aggressive driving
Driving aggressively does not only put you at risk but also uses more petrol.
- Don’t over rev your vehicle
The more you rev, the more petrol your car consumes.
- Keep windows closed
Keep your windows closed, open windows add drag to a vehicle, which contributes to higher petrol consumption.
- Make fewer trips
The more you drive, the more petrol your car consumes, it’s better to drive less and even hitch a ride from a friend.
