Glitzy evening sees business people unpack the Africa free trade agreement

FOURWAYS – Business people dressed up to enjoy a gala evening held by the Randburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Here's how the evening unfolded ...

The Verona Suite at Montecasino’s The Pivot Hotel was the scene of glitz, glamour and robust speeches to unpack Africa’s free trade agreement to an audience of business people.

The evening was held by the Randburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) and saw a number of influential business people as well as small business owners in attendance.

In his keynote address, Business Leaders South Africa’s CEO, Bonang Mohale, shared his strong views on how business needs to consider what it is prepared to do to help the country. He also shared his belief that it is important for business to join hands with civil society and gave his views on the importance of education.

The Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Madala Masuku, also addressed attendees, and tried to instill hope, saying, “Yes, South Africa may be faced with various challenges: An economy that is going through doldrums; that is not stabilising and growing as fast as we may want it to, but maybe it is a blessing.” He explained his view saying that Africa’s economy is ‘pregnant with opportunities’ and that citizens are able to take advantage of and develop it.

He said South Africans must see it as an opportunity and identify what is needed as a guide down that particular path.

Along with the thought-provoking speeches and a question-and-answer session, guests dined on delicious food and used the evening as a chance to network.
