#ICYMI: WRRHA security poles installed

WAVERLY – The Waverly Residents, Ratepayers and Homeowners Association has finished their security initiative.

The Waverley Residents, Ratepayers and Homeowners Association (WRRHA) are close to the completion of their security initiative with security poles and cameras installed.

The initiative was launched by the association in April this year at their first meeting. The meeting hosted a discussion to call on residents to assist in the raising of money to fund the installation of new CAP CCTV poles, which host a general overview camera and a licence-plate recognition camera which is linked to a cloud-based server.

Chairperson of the association Tracey Lavers said they initially raised money for seven overview cameras but were able to raise enough money to afford 10 cameras.

She added, “It’s so incredible that we’ve been able to so much community engagement to get the cameras up. I am just ecstatic.”

Lavers said the installation of the cameras will allow more discussions to happen in future association meetings.

Ward 74 councillor David Fisher said, “Its quite amazing that they have done this as a measure to fight crime. But it’s great to see the association handling the project in an inclusive manner with a great deal of participation from the residents.”

Lavers extended appreciation towards the residents, CAP security who handled the cameras and Vumacam who erected the poles in the area.

She added that the seven cameras in the area are working and will be online by the end of October or start of November. The association also has three additional poles on the end of Waverly near Savoy which might see cameras installed but will need to host a public meeting with the Savoy residents before the project can move forward.
