Johannesburg Flying Squad arrest three suspects for a business robbery in Linksfield

JOHANNESBURG – One suspect was apprehended by GAP Security and handed over to the police.

 

The Johannesburg Flying Squad officers arrested two suspects for business robbery and for being in possession of unlicensed firearms.

The incident happened at Linksfield Square Shopping Centre in Linksfield on 13 September, according to the spokesperson for the Johannesburg Flying Squad, Sergeant Desmond Subramoney.

‘The police were apparently responding to a business robbery that occurred at Woolworth’s store, said Subramoney.”

“One suspect was apprehended by GAP Security and handed over to the police. The members then combed the area searching for the remaining suspects and spotted two occupants sitting inside a white Ford Ikon parked at Linksfield Square parking lot. Upon searching the vehicle and the occupants, three 9mm pistols (2 Norinco, 1 Lorcin) were recovered with serial numbers filed out.”

On further investigations, Subramoney said it was discovered that the two suspects were linked to the robbery.

Investigations are continuing and the firearms and the vehicle were confiscated.

The suspects were arrested and charged for being in possession of unlicensed firearm, as well as for ammunition and business robbery at the Norwood Police Station.

Both suspects aged 27 will be appearing in the Johannesburg magistrate court soon.
