Fire rocks manufacturing building in Joburg CBD

JOHANNESBURG – There were no casualties and the fire was contained in about 45 minutes.

A car part manufacturing building was also on fire on the morning of 11 September but no casualties or fatalities were reported, according to the spokesperson for the Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS), Nana Radebe.

According to Radebe, a small portion of the building caught fire but firefighters were quick to contain it from causing any serious damage.

“It was just the ground floor of the building that was affected and not the entire building itself,” said Radebe.

“We had a team of competent firefighters who were immediately deployed at the scene and the fire was contained in about 45 minutes. We are not yet sure what caused the fire but we are investigating.”

The building is located along Eloff Street near Selby area and it belongs to a car manufacturing company.
