Torah Academy usher in Rosh Hashanah

ORANGE GROVE – The Torah Academy Boys' High School students blew the shofar every day for Elul to usher in Rosh Hashanah.

 

The students at the Torah Academy Boys’ High School have been blowing the shofar during the month of Elul as a lead up to Rosh Hashanah.

The month of Elul is seen as a month of repentance and is celebrated between August and September before the Jewish New Year of Rosh Hashanah which takes place from the evening on 9 September to the evening of 11 September.

Marketing manager for the school Sue Belling said, “It is customary during this month to hear the sounds of the shofar, ram’s horn, calling people to penitence, prayer, and charity during the High Holy Days.

She added that every weekday, the boys from the Torah Academy Boys’ High School blow the shofar for the members of the staff and schoolchildren in the days preceding Rosh Hashanah.
