#JoburgFire reignites on the 16th floor

JOBURG – Firefighters having been working throughout the night to put out the fire.

The fire that ravaged the 23rd floor of the Gauteng Provincial Health Department yesterday, 5 September, has reignited and is burning a different floor of the building in Joburg’s CBD.

Emergency Management Services spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi confirmed that the fire that took the lives of three firefighters on 5 September reignited on the 16th floor and added that firefighters have been working throughout the night and are still battling with the blaze this morning.

Metro police spokesperson, Edna Mamonyane confirmed that Sauer, Albertina Sisulu, Pixley and President Streets would remain closed till further notice. She explained that the area would be closed off as there was still flying glass and falling debris, and wasn’t safe for the public.
