UPDATE: Sandringham High principal in Netcare rehab hospital

JOHANNESBURG – Sandringham High School principal Phillip du Plessis has been moved out of ICU and is at Netcare rehabilitation hospital.

 

Following weeks of recovery, Sandringham High School’s principal is currently in the Netcare rehabilitation hospital in Johannesburg.

Phillip du Plessis was moved from ICU at the Charlotte Maxeke academic hospital to the Netcare rehabilitation hospital on 13 August.

His niece and family representative Ana Saunders said, “He is in the Netcare Rehabilitation hospital. He will be there until about 5 October when he will be sent home where will have someone’s help until about December.”

Saunders added that he is doing well and slowly walking but will be wearing a back brace for the next three months. She said that the family is still very positive though he has his off days.

The 55-year-old Du Plessis went missing on 4 July. He had been using the school’s car the day he disappeared, which was traced to the parking of Carnival City Casino. It is alleged that he was knocked by a car in Brakpan on 5 July and was rushed to Charlotte Maxeke academic hospital where he was found by the authorities on 20 July.
